OVERVIEW

Burgundy is a region steeped in history and wine. The Romans introduced viticulture to the region and founded several of Burgundy’s cities. Although best known for its world-famous wines and vineyards, Burgundy has its share of chateaux, stunning medieval villages, and austere Cistercian abbeys. This region is also renowned for its cuisine and you will have the opportunity to enjoy all the region’s specialties including coq-au-vin, boeuf bourguignon, escargots, and frogs’ legs.

HOTEL

Our home base will be Le Cep, a four-star, historic hotel composed of 16th and 18th century townhouses, which is ideally situated in the heart of Beaune. Its rooms are lavishly decorated and each bears the name of a grand cru. Breakfast is served in the Renaissance courtyard under a weeping willow or in your room. It is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World member.

TOWN

Beaune, surrounded by its medieval ramparts, is the home of the historic Hospice de Beaune (Hotel-Dieu). It is a beautiful small town filled with restaurants, shops, and world-renowned wine cellars. In your free time you can visit the Hotel-Dieu, with its inner courtyard and colorful tiled roof, the Musee du Vin de Bourgogne, the Basilique Collegiale de Notre Dame, or La Moutarderie, an interactive exhibition about mustard.

TENNIS

We will be playing tennis at the Beaune Tennis Club, located in the beautiful Chateau Vignoles Park, named after the chateau in the middle of the park. It is a short drive from our hotel to the park.
